Yet to win on the European Tour, but how close he came at the 2019 DP World Championship in Dubai, where he led for much of the week and still had a chance with a hole to play, before ultimately finishing third behind Jon Rahm and Tommy Fleetwood. The performance took him into the game’s top 70 for the first time.
Lorenzo-Vera made his Open Championship debut in 2017, at the age of 32, by finishing joint third in the HNA French Open and returned in 2019 after being one of five runners-up behind Christiaan Bezuidenhout in the Andalucia Masters at Valderrama.
That matched his best finish on the circuit. He also finished joint second at the 2008 Volvo China Open, lost a play-off to Joakim Lagergren in the 2018 Rocco Forte Sicilian Open and was part of a remarkable nine-way tie for second at the 2019 Commerical Bank Qatar Masters.
He then tied for 16th in the PGA Championship – only the third major of his career - at Bethpage Black.
Lorenzo-Vera won on the Alps Tour as an amateur, then in 2007 topped the Challenge Tour rankings after winning the season-ending Grand Final, a tournament he started with a nine-under 62.
